I asked Jessica Kleinschmidt a few questions and here are her answers
1. I work for the federal government full time. On the side I write anywhere from two to five sports articles per week for eDraft.com on football (fantasy and NFL), MLB and anything else in between, I also help them with a radio show they recently got up and running. I’m also a cohost for a local sports talk radio show in the Northern Nevada area called “He Said She Said Sports Show.” I’ve always been a sports lover; I was practically raised at the baseball fields, and played softball in college after I was told I had to switch from baseball because of the college opportunities. I have always had a niche for writing and am currently finishing a dual degree in Business Management and Journalism.
2. My absolute dream gig would be to be an analyst on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight. Baseball is my true passion and I’m knowledgeable because I actually played baseball (no not just softball, the actual game of baseball). There are women on all of the football shows, why can’t the same thing be said for Baseball Tonight? And John Kruk doesn’t count. Anything in the sports industry I’m open to however.
3. I am SO excited for Spring Training. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Blue Jays play right out of the gate, and if you have seen their lineup you would back me up on that statement. Between Dickey, Bautista, and Cabrera, they are going to be sensational. I’m also anxious to see how Jurickson Profar does on the Rangers and to see if he is as good as the Rangers pan him out to be. I’m excited to see Aaron Blair, the No. 1 prospect, see how he performs. Most importantly, I cannot wait to watch the Oakland Athletics have another phenomenal year and see how Hiroyuki Nakajima does on the field for the A’s. Planning a trip to Arizona to broadcast some shows and enjoy some baseball and I can hardly wait. Go A’s!
4. The Cubs are probably going to lose Soriano to a trade. At least they don’t have to compete with the Angels. The White Sox still have to deal with the Tigers who are only getting better, and neither team will make the playoffs.
5. I wouldn’t expect too much from the National League West as a division. I love the Diamondbacks, but they’re probably going to lose Upton, let’s just be honest, which loses a huge amount of offensive support. Brandon McCarthy will be just fine though. I’m not too worried he won’t perform wonderfully. Thanks for bringing that up. I am still in withdrawals.
